We had never met before, had little sailing experience and are now lifelong friends thanks to the Mariner Boating two-week holiday on a 48-foot yacht, cruising Turkey’s magnificent Lycian Coast. The Mariner experience is truly life changing!

Why did you choose a Mariner boating holiday?

We discovered both of us had travelled a great deal over many years and shared a desire for adventure and learning.

Jennie: “My husband and I had previously been on a Mariner boating holiday in Greece. It was one of the most memorable experiences of our lives! We chose to go Mariner again, as their holidays provide a unique small group adventure to amazing locations, with like-minded people.”

Julie: “I was traveling alone for two months and wanted to include a sailing adventure as I had never sailed before, and this activity was on my bucket list. The Mariner trip locations from which to choose were stunning and the experience ticked all the boxes!”

What were the highlights and challenges of the Mariner experience?

We both agree, signing up with Mariner is so much more than sailing. It is a great experience that you store in your travel memory bank forever, along with the many photos that never quite capture the beauty of the locations visited, and the joy and laughter that come from a raft of shared experiences.

You can go to bed under the stars, slide into the water for a swim before breakfast, hike to historical sites, experience breathtaking ocean views, eat at local restaurants, meet new friends, do a bit of dancing, share stories, play games, laugh until your face hurts, challenge yourself to do things you never thought you could do…….oh, and do some sailing!

What were the backgrounds of your fellow sailors?

The sailing experience of those in our Mariner fleet varied. We both chose a cabin on a shared boat, with crew who had a mix of sailing expertise, and had an experienced local skipper on board. Others, who were more experienced, chose to self-skipper a Mariner boat with friends. Regardless of the level of sailing experience, it was obvious all had come to share fully and have a great time.

Sarah from Mariner is a master at planning and logistics, ensuring the safety and enjoyment of all. Daily briefings for all crew meant everyone knew what was happening and provided the opportunity to ask questions and discuss options for the day.

Would you go Mariner again?

YES, absolutely!

Jennie: “We have done two trips with Mariner – Greece and most recently Turkey, both have been awesome. This year we will do the Mariner trip which circumnavigates the island of Mallorca.

A Mariner holiday is a wonderful mix of adventure and downtime, of structure and flexibility and Sarah makes sure everyone is involved and engaged. If you want a trip you’ll talk about again and again, a Mariner Boating Holiday delivers.

Julie: “I sailed with Mariner for two weeks each in Turkey and Greece and it was amazing – two of the best holidays of my life. I am back this year sailing in Croatia and glorious Greece (again)! It is the perfect combination of – sailing (whether experienced or novice) and discovering a country through beautiful places, meeting the people, eating the food and sharing great times.”

We’ll never forget our flotilla of Mariner sailing boats coming into port, proudly flying the Australian flag and later sitting on the deck watching the sun go down with fellow sailors and a glass of vino! It doesn’t get any better than that!

Whether you’re an experienced sailor or just starting out, Mariner Boating offers the perfect mix of excitement and relaxation, creating memories that will last a lifetime.

So, why wait? Embark on your ultimate sailing adventure with Mariner Boating and discover the world like never before!’
